Michelina Hanlon - July 2015 Judges' Choice
I am so grateful to have been chosen as a Harlequin Floors Video Contest Judges' Choice Winner for July!  I have been dancing since I was three, and I currently study ballet and modern at Northern California Dance Conservatory (NCDC) in Roseville, California.  Journey's End was choreographed by Jen Bradford, the Owner/Artistic Director of NCDC.  Working with Ms. Jen is amazing!  Her choreography and music choices are unique and I absolutely love performing her pieces on stage!
The video was taken at YAGP in San Francisco this year, where I was awarded third place in the contemporary category, junior division.  I performed the same piece at The Elite Dance Tournament Finals, where I was awarded first place in the ballet category, junior division, as well as a summer intensive scholarship and year-round scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School.  I have participated in YAGP for the last three years and Elite for one year.  These competitions are great opportunities to meet other dancers and get feedback from judges who represent some of the best dance institutions in the world.
This summer I attended intensives at San Francisco Ballet and NCDC, and I am about to attend the Joffery Ballet School intensive.  During the coming school year, I will continue training at NCDC.
One of my favorite things about dance is coming to class every day, working hard and pushing myself to do more than the day before.  There is a huge sense of accomplishment at the end of the day when I come home and am so exhausted!  I hope to continue dancing for the rest of my life!  Thank you again for the scholarship!
