I would like to first thank Harlequin Floors for the privilege of being selected for their December Scholarship. It is an honor to be recognized and awarded for dancing -- a gift given by God which I truly enjoy.
I am 17 years old and have been pursuing dance since I was 3 years old. I currently compete with NV Dance Force in St. Peters, Missouri and I have danced with them for 2 years. Previously I have danced at Excel Performing Arts, Steppin' Up Dance Productions, COCA, and have trained at Alvin Ailey Workshops and with Jennifer Medinas' Common Thread Company through a scholarship I earned from dancing at STL Teen Talent Competition.
Up to now I have studied ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, and hip-hop. My all-time favorite is contemporary because it allows me to express my inner-most feelings with freedom of movement. This is the genre I performed in the video submitted. It is a self-choreographed dance!
I will be continuing my journey of dancing at Lindenwood University in the Fall. I have no plans to cease dancing for as long as I waltz this Earth, and I am thankful that Harlequin Floors has contributed to my efforts in doing so.
Thank you so much!
