I have been dancing for 14 years. I choreographed the piece in the winning video. It was the first piece I ever choreographed. This solo won 5th place at the St. Charles Classic Poms competition in January 2013. I study Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, and Jazz. I love the style called "jazz-funk" the best, because it is the style I can put the most "personality" into. It has the edge of hip hop but can also have the style and technique of a jazz dance.
My future plans are to attend Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri this fall to study media communications, dance, and Spanish. I plan to minor in dance at Webster University.
In the future I would like to become a professional dancer and choreographer. This summer will be my first season as a member of the Ashleyliane Dance Company, Junior Company. My motivation to dance is that dance is the way I can completely express myself. I would like to inspire or help someone through my dancing.
I have not competed at a studio, but I was a member of the Pazzaz Performing Company from St. Louis Academy of dance, and I competed for the Eureka Golden Line Dance Team from Eureka High School in Missouri for 4 years. I have won the titles of Universal Dance Association All-American Dancer and National Dance Alliance All-American Dancer.
I currently dance at Wildwood Dance and Arts in Wildwood, MO. The owner is Leah Cordiano-Siemens. I send a special thank you to favorite instructors Kacy Voskuil of St. Louis Academy of Dance who taught me how to be a great performer and to be confident in my dancing; to Ashley Tate of Ashleyliane Dance Company -- an inspiration to the St. Louis dance community because she founded her own dance company that is making waves on the local dance scene; and to Kara Mueller of Eureka High School (Coach of Eureka Golden Line Dance Team) who taught me how to be a great teammate and she pushed me to become a better dancer.
Thank you so much for this scholarship,
